Stop Wingeing, Get A Life And Start Living

If I hear one more winge on TV I shall be very temted to put it out to be recycled.

We, as a nation, have got so soft and mollycoddled that as soon as anything goes wrong we start to winge and whine and demand that the Government 'Do something about it'.

It's about time people got real. There is a global economic downturn which could teeter into a recession at any moment so we all have to economise. So far everyone is agreed that there have to be drastic cuts - as long as they are made by someone else. Everyone thinks that their particular interest is too important and should be the exception that doesn't suffer any cut backs.

No-one and nothing should be exempt. If we can't afford it we can't have it. It's the only way we can get back on a sound economic footing and able to spend a bit more.

But what do you expect from a society that expects its young to stay in education for at least a third of it's pre-pension life.

The young are full of energy and joie de vivre and should be out in the real world getting to grips with life. As it is the only excitement some of them can generate is through vandalism, gangs and bullying. If they were earning a living they wouldn't have time for all that.

What's all this got to do with being your own boss?

Until we expect our young and ourselves to take responsibility for our own lives we will only be living a half life. When you are your own boss you have responsibility but the triumph and excitement you feel when you've cracked a problem and won through is exquisite.

So if times are tight get out there and start your own business and encourage your children to do the same instead of aiming at being wage slaves - no matter how well off that may make them.

What Will Success Mean to You?

We all want to be successful but the word 'success' means different things to different people. Which is your definition?

Success 1. Wealth. I want to be a multimillionaire. I want at least one large car and to live ina mansion in the country. I also want to have a large yacht and apartments or houses in the United States and in the most popular European countries. I want to mix with important and famous people.

Success 2. Power. I want to make my mark in the business world. I would exercise great influence in this field and earn in excess of £1 million per year minimum. I would enjoy having the power over people and events.

Success 3. Contentment. I want to have enough money to live comfortably and to have the freedom to enjoy my private life, to spend time with my family and friends and to enjoy my hobbies to the full. I want to be able to make as much money as I want when I want it but my success depends on my happiness and the happiness of my family. The operative word is contentment.

Which appeals to you? Personally I enjoy being out of the rat race. I'm free to enjoy my life in the way I want, in the country with my horses, dog and other animals. It suits me and I am happy. But I also know that if I wanted more I have the capability and confidence to acquire all want. To me, that is success.

Motivational Conferences – Are They A Good Thing?

Many budding entrepreneurs are beguiled by motivational conferences. There’s a buzz of excitement in the air. The hall or conference room seems to be filled with successful men and women. The speakers on stage are multi-millionaires.

What’s more they all tell the same story. Anyone can do it. It isn’t difficult. For a reasonably investment you can receive from them the blueprint of their success. With this information you can practically start spending your millions right away.

You go home in a state of euphoria. And then the real world kicks in. The blueprint for success is not as simple as it was made out to be. Quite often it isn’t all that comprehensive. If you weed out all the waffle and make a list of the relevant points 100 pages of the A4 sized manual is condensed into as little as 10 pages.

You also find that you don’t have the time to get the system going and there are costs you hadn’t allowed for.

If you do manage to get something up and running it doesn’t always attract the promised degree of response.

You feel that you are a failure. Somehow it is your fault that you’re rather worse off than you were before. Desperately you sign up for another conference and the whole rigmarole starts all over again.

Well cheer up. It isn’t you. It’s the system. The vast majority of the audiences are in exactly the same position as you are. They are aspiring millionaires who have had to struggle and rely on credit cards or savings to pay anything from several hundred to several thousands of pounds to attend the course. And they too have had minimum success.

These conferences are not scams. The speakers are as successful as they claim and the blueprints they sell are the methods they used. They are perhaps a little economical with the truth about how much it actually costs to place advert or buy lists of addresses, not to say the increasing cost of postage. They also don’t allow for the fact that most of the hopeful attendees spend most of their time earning a living and can’t work on the schemes they’ve bought into sufficiently.

By all means try them. You might be one of the people who are successful. Don’t class yourself as a failure if you don’t belong to that group.

It is possible to build up a very successful business and to be your own boss by working in a way designed specifically for you in your situation and with your financial situation and commitments taken into account.
